Rising light heavyweight Magomed Ankalaev is expected to meet former title challenger Anthony Smith at UFC’s July 30th event, per a recent report from Nolan King and Mike Bohn of MMA Junkie.
The fight is joining a card that doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.
Ankalaev is currently on an impressive eight-fight winning streak in the division. He scored his first UFC main event win in his most recent appearance, going five rounds against Thiago Santos two months ago for a unanimous decision victory.
Before then, Ankalaev had wins over notable names like Volkan Oezdemir and Ion Cutelaba, with four of his victories in the campaign coming via stoppage.
Smith is also on somewhat of a run, having scored a trio of wins since late 2020. His last appearance was a quick outing, submitting Ryan Spann in the first round of a main event.
The sole other fight that has been reported for July 30th thus far is a heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Sergei Pavlovich.
