ONE Championship is planning two Muay Thai title fights for their next event.
A duo of championship bouts headlined a recent lineup that was announced for the promotion’s May 20th show.
In the main event, Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy is expected to meet Jimmy Vienot with the promotion’s 155-pound title on the line.
Petchmorakot has defended his Muay Thai Championship three times since first earning it in 2020. His last ONE was over a year ago when he scored a third-round stoppage win against Magnus Andersson.
Petchmorakot has remained active outside of ONE since then, competing numerous times in the Muay Thai and boxing scene in Thailand.
Vienot will be making his ONE debut in the title fight. The French kickboxer is very experienced, having previously competed in GLORY Kickboxing and in bouts around the Thailand scene.
Prajanchai P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym will look to defend his 125-pound belt for the first time when he faces Joseph Lasiri in the co-main event.
Prajanchai became champion last year, scoring a decision victory over Sam-A Gaiyanghadao after five rounds of action. The fight was also his ONE debut following more than a decade of success in Thailand.
Lasiri, a ONE vet, is coming off a finish victory he scored late last year against Asahi Shinagawa. In his 10th appearance for ONE, Lasiri will be getting his first-ever title shot in the promotion.
Beginning Of Grand Prix Announced
A Muay Thai Grand Prix is expected to kick off on the card as well.
Held at the weight class of flyweight (135-pounds), eight fighters are set to appear in the lineup to start their bracket run.
The highest billed fight from the tournament is a bout between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Jacob Smith. Also on the main card, Jonathan Haggerty and Walter Goncalves are expected to face off.
The prelims are scheduled to include a fight between Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Taiki Naito, along with a bout between Savvas Michael and Amir Naseri.
Two alternate bouts for the tournament will take place lower on the prelims, providing replacements in the event of a fighter getting pulled from the bracket.
Four MMA Bouts Set For ONE 157
The Muay Thai-heavy card from ONE is scheduled to have four MMA fights on it in total.
On the main card, grappling ace Marcus Almeida will return in a fight against Hugo Cunha. Still in his rookie year as a pro, Almeida will be searching for his third victory.
Lower on the card, 115-pound fighters Asha Roka and Alyse Anderson have been paired up.
The MMA debut of Nat Jaroonsak will take place on the prelims, as she will meet Zena Bano at the 125-pound limit.
