A clash between two high-profile bantamweights could headline UFC’s August 13th show.
The promotion is currently aiming to match up Marlon Vera and Dominick Cruz for the “Fight Night” card, per a report from Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes.
If the fight can be confirmed, it will serve as the main event for a UFC card that doesn’t have a set location at the moment.
Cruz, a former UFC Bantamweight Champion, will be searching for his third consecutive win. He scored two victories last year, beating Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz via decision.
The former champ was quite inactive before that run. Aside from a 2020 title fight loss to Henry Cejudo, injuries kept Cruz sidelined for a better part of three-and-a-half years.
Vera is also on a roll currently, having scored three straight wins. He headlined his first-ever UFC main event in April, going five rounds against Rob Font for a unanimous decision victory.

Bout 2: Devin Clark (13-6) vs. Azamat Murzakanov (11-0) (Light Heavyweight)
Bout 1: Gerald Meerschaert (34-15) vs. Bruno Silva (22-7) (Middleweight)
