Rogerio Bontorin Hospitalized, Pulled From UFC 275 Fight Against Manel Kape

An anticipated fight between flyweights Rogerio Bontorin and Manel Kape won’t happen at UFC 275 this weekend.

Bontorin has been pulled from his June 11th fight against Kape, as he was admitted to a local hospital in recent hours. The reason for his hospitalization, which was first reported by Marcel Dorff of Eurosport, is not known at the moment.

Bontorin was scheduled to appear at UFC’s weigh-ins today, where he was expected to meet the limit of 126 pounds for his fight. He was booked to compete at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

Bontorin was fighting to bounce back from a split decision loss that he took in January against Brandon Royval.

The recent news keeps Kape on the sidelines for 2022 thus far. He was previously booked for a fight against Sumudaerji in April, although brief troubles with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency forced him off that card.

Kape had an active rookie year in the UFC before then, putting together two wins and two losses in 11 months’ time.

UFC 275 is currently scheduled to be headlined by 205-pound champ Glover Teixeira and rising contender Jiri Prochazka.
