Big changes have been unveiled for PFL’s August 13th card as well as the full 10-fight card for the promotion’s August 19th event recently.
All of the changes affect shows that are set to happen at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA. The events are part of PFL’s four-event playoff series that is set to happen throughout this month and culminate with a grand final later this year.
PFL 7 Sees Big Changes
The sole change to PFL’s main card sees welterweight semi-finalist Magomed Magomedkerimov meet Sadibou Sy. Magomedkerimov was originally set to face Joao Zeferino, who has since withdrawn from the fight.
Sy was previously announced to face Gleison Tibau on the preliminary card of August 13th. Tibau is still in the lineup, as Sy has been replaced by UFC and Bellator alum Curtis Millender.
Olivier Aubin-Mercier won’t be facing 2019 PFL Champion Natan Schulte on the preliminary card and is now expected to meet former UFC fighter Darrell Horcher. The promotional newcomer was previously announced for the card, although he was the sole fighter who didn’t have an opponent known publicly at the time.
Veteran Brett Cooper will get a new opponent in his PFL debut, as he is now set to face Tyler Hill on the prelims.
On top of the replacements and re-bookings on the card, a new matchup between undefeated prospect Elvin Espinoza and Hopeton Stewart will also happen at the event.
Prelims Announced For August 19th Card
A six-fight preliminary card has been revealed for PFL’s August 19th card. The previously announced main card will see heavyweight men and lightweight women compete in the semi-finals of the playoffs.
The undercard features numerous fighters who appeared during the regular season, along with other fighters who will be fighting in the PFL for the first time.
The featured prelim will see Renan Ferreira face Stuart Austin. Ferreria competed twice in the regular season. While he won both of his fights in the season, a controversial fight against Fabricio Werdum was later overturned to a no contest. The fight will be Austin’s first PFL appearance.
Two-fight Bellator alum Marina Mokhnatkina will make her PFL debut when facing veteran Kaitlin Young on the prelims. Mokhnatkina is returning after defeating Amanda Bell on a Bellator card in June. Young is competing for the third time this year, with her two previous fights resulting in a win and a loss.
Carl Seumanutafa will fight to snap a four-fight losing streak when facing fellow heavyweight Mo DeReese on the prelims.
29-year-old Zamzagul Fayzallanova will make her PFL debut on the prelims when fighting Mariana Morais, who is returning after winning and losing a bout each in the regular season.
Two fighters will make their pro debut when Cynthia Vanessa Vescan and Amanda Leve fight on the prelims.
