Brady Hiestand locked his position in the bantamweight grand finals of “The Ultimate Fighter” on Tuesday’s episode, stopping Vince Murdock within a round with strikes.
Hiestand scored a takedown in the opening minute, putting himself in the position to subsequently finish the bout later in the round.
The young bantamweight was able to eventually move into side control, allowing him to land with more strikes. After moving to full mount, an intensified pace of shots went unanswered by Murdock and caused the fight to end.
Murdock mentioned after the fight that his left knee was “blown out” at some point, significantly affecting his ability to compete.
Hiestand is now set to face Ricky Turcios in the grand finals of the bantamweight bracket.
It was reported earlier this week that the grand finals of this season will happen live at UFC’s August 28th “Fight Night” card.
Hiestand’s first win on the show aired last month, where he fought to a unanimous decision win over Josh Rettinghouse after three rounds of action.
The final episode of “TUF” will air next week when middleweights Tresean Gore and Gilbert Urbina face off. The winner will face Bryan Battle in the grand final later this month.
